I am all for political satire, but does anyone think that having Stephen Colbert testify in character before a House commitee will enhance the perception that Democrats are seriously addressing national issues?

No, but who thought ignoring the bad economy to work on every other damn thing they could come up with, up to and including wrecking 1/6 of it with a massive and unpopular “healthcare” bill. I could be wrong though.

  2. Justin says:

Don’t worry Nate and Jack. After the elections they might attempt to wreck a second 1/6 of the economy with cap and trade.

I cannot remember nor do I have the source any longer, but one Wall Street analyst mentioned that the cap and trade market could grow to a $2 trillion trade within 5 years of it being enacted. This would amount to slightly less than what we spend on health care here now, the proceeds of which will largely go to government and the big brokerages who will trade them, if it’s enacted as a trading system.

I can’t help but remember Clinton’s campaign yell when he was running against Bush; “It’s the economy, stupid.”
