Atheist Contradictions – Magical Thinking

October 31, 2010

It always amazes me that atheists will, almost in the same breath, claim that there is no problem with believing that universes can come into being from nothing without cause, but a belief that miracles can occur is certainly unscientific. What is more unscientific – to believe everything that exists does so without a cause, or to believe that something exists as the result of a cause that is more powerful and capable than men normally experience? I would suggest the atheists thinking is certainly the unscientific position here.

In fact it is anti-science as science is ultimately the study of causation.

Observations

Atheism is logically inconsistent with the notion that all men are endowed with certain inalienable rights, and thus undermines this truth.

Nostalgic For the ’80s

October 29, 2010

The odd effect of this ad, which was banned in the early ’80s, is that is makes one nostalgic for a time when the deficit was only $2 trillion dollars.

Betty McCollum Needs to Go

October 29, 2010

I don’t normally pay much attention to Betty McCollum, the Congressional Representative of Minnesota’s 4th District because I live in the 6th District (where Michelle Bachmann is currently grinding her rival Tarryl Clarke into oblivion) and because McCollum has traditionally been thought of as a ‘fixture’ in the traditionally Democratic 4th District.

But this year in Minnesota, as in the rest of the nation, the electorate is shifting, so people are finally paying attention to Ms. McCollum. A recent video I think defines the kind of person she is. In a recent debate before the League of Women Voters. When asked by the moderator the question, “What should the cost be to re-build Iraq and Afghanistan?” McCollum gave as part of her response this strange statement – “Al Qaeda no longer poses a threat to the United States”

It can be seen in the video below at around 1:44:

This statement is astounding. With the recent arrests, parts of Europe on high alert, travel warnings being issued to Americans and recently released statements by the leaders of Al Qaeda threatening the West it is unbelievable that a sitting Congressperson would make such a foolish statement.

Such ignorance is not only unacceptable, it’s dangerous. McCollum needs to go – time to vote for Teresa Collett.

By The Numbers

October 29, 2010

According to a recent Pew Hispanic Poll, 31% of Hispanics think illegal immigration has had a negative impact on the US:

Hispanics are also divided about the impact of illegal immigration on Hispanics already living in the U.S. Roughly equal shares say the impact has been positive (29%), negative (31%) or made no difference (30%). This mixed judgment stands in sharp contrast to views that Latinos expressed on this subject in 2007. Back then, fully half (50%) of Latinos said the impact was positive, while just 20% said it was negative.

Of course, the Left would call those 31% of Hispanics racists.

Friday Fun-ness

October 29, 2010

Normally I post a fun video here, but today I though a cultural pop-quiz was in order. It concerns the following picture:

Boulevard

The question is, what is historically significant about this picture?

Observations

October 28, 2010

The narrative of the Democrats this elections season appears to go as follows:

“The previous Republican administration created this mess through policies and programs that produced an economy crushing debt. We have sought to remedy this situation by advancing more policies and programs creating significantly more debt. The Tea Party is bad because it actually seems to want to eliminate or reduce these policies and programs to reduce said debt. Vote Democrat!”

Is it any surprise this strategy isn’t working?
