Teacher’s Unions Are Damaging American Education

As coverage of this recent protest of governor Scott Walker at a successful private school in Wisconsin clearly demonstrates:

What the left-wing teachers unions are against here is obvious – choice, opportunity, and the welfare of students.

What they are for seems to be their own interests, which don’t include a good education for American children.

    I’m sure it’s a surprise, but I agree.

Teachers are no more, on the whole, in education to ensure children are educated than the guy that slices my ham at the deli works at his job to provide me with nicely sliced meats.

Sure it’s probably important to most, but when it comes down to it, it’s their job, that’s what puts food on the table, pays their medical bills, etc.

Unfortunately, the reason a particular job exists is not to do any of these things, it’s to accomplish a task.

    Sorry teachers.

Unions help ensure the survival of the incompetent.

I hope Walker continues to succeed in Wisconsin and stop those will drag the state down.

Lets not forget that unions were once about improving working conditions that needed to be improved.

Now they are about getting their members the most lavish benefits possible, while not taking into account the effect it will have on government budgets or the success of the business employing their members.

Probably one of the reasons private sector union membership has been on the decline for quite a while. It’s hard to continue to have a job when you bankrupt companies or make it more profitable to close down operations.

    @ Nate
    You said,

Now they are about getting their members the most lavish benefits possible,

I am not against trying to get lavish benefits. I am against the government empowering unions to get that via political force. I am against no means to stop others from hijacking our happiness or choices.
People once formed Unions to fight the power plays of companies, then Unions started power plays. And the easiest power play to make is to grab government to do your dirty work.

  6. Nate says:

I’m not against lavish benefits per say either. My point was roughly what you just said. I figured it went almost without saying.
